The importance of warehouse quality

Checklist and audition for warehouses used by FMS.

Task/problem:

During a routine check at the warehouse of a paper industry customer, our surveyor identified discrepancies between the customer's requirements and the actual state of affairs.

  • Damage was not reported correctly
  • Notifications/packing lists were not sent
  • Warehousing lists were not maintained correctly

This caused a great deal of extra work not only for our customer, but also for us as the entire inventory had to be checked.

Solution

To meet the desired service requirements, we advised the customer to switch warehouses. For this, we drew on long-standing partners from our portfolio.
To avoid such problems in future business, we got together with our customer and our surveyor and drew up a checklist for paper warehouses.

Result

All the warehouses used by FMS in Europe have since been audited in order to avoid such service bottlenecks for other businesses in the future.
In addition to cleanliness and functioning equipment, what matters to us is the technical approach. In this kind of fast-moving business, EDI connections are essential. Accordingly, we also assist our partners with ideas and programs designed to guarantee cutting-edge processes.

With the Cruise Control customer solutions tool we developed ourselves, we are able to visualize and coordinate all inventories.
