How many employees work at FMS Barcelona?

15 women and 11 men ranging from 20 to 60 years and a low fluctuation, results in a balanced team where the experienced employees share their know-how and tips of the business, while the juniors share their ability working with new technologies and their eagerness to learn fast and become skilled professionals.

Are there any staff events at the Barcelona branch?

Yes, we have done pottery workshops, escape rooms, mystery tours and of course, a few „happy hours“, mainly Thursdays, after work.

What kind of jobs are there at the branch and what are typical tasks?

Commercial, carrier rate negotiations, customer service and shipping coordination are our main activities, also handling central administration for the four Spanish offices.

3 Questions to Alfred Aguilar, FMS Barcelona.

1. What is your job at FMS Barcelona?

My current job at FMS is in the sea freight export department. My tasks consist of arranging all sea shipping commodities. I am responsible for all processes, especially for the coordination of bookings with the shipping companies, the customs clearance and all the particularities that may occur with the shipments. I am constantly learning and developing myself as a forwarder.

2. How was your professional development at FMS?

Everything I know related to the forwarding and shipping business I owe to my experience at FMS. When I finalized my studies, I came here with a lot of motivation but without any experience. Now, after one year, I can’t imagine a better place to grow, learn and develop professionally than here at FMS. The young and professional team as well as the really great atmosphere in which we work here contribute to the fact that I feel really comfortable and have felt like a part of this great family since my first day here.  

3. What makes FMS a great employer for you?

There are many reasons why I think FMS is a great employer, mainly because the company cares a lot about its employees and their comfort and worries. FMS gave me a lot of responsibility which made me feel recognized and motivated to do my best. I felt especially well cared for during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The well-being and health of the employees was always our first priority and then we made sure that we had a maximum of possibilities to work efficiently at home. All together, this is not easy to find in nowadays.

Fr. Meyer's Sohn opens warehouse at the Port of Hamburg for its 125th anniversary

From July 2022, Fr. Meyer's Sohn will manage its own warehouse in the direct vicinity of the Port of Hamburg with >10,000 sqm of warehouse space.
