Due to current infrastructure restrictions on the rail connection to and from Kornwestheim, we would like to inform you about significant impacts on available transport capacity and schedule reliability.
We have been advised that, as a result of bridge damage, the rail line relevant for Kornwestheim traffic will be operated on a single track from 21 August 2026 until approximately 10 September 2026. In addition, construction work on the access route to Kornwestheim will lead to further operational restrictions from 22 August 2026 until at least 31 August 2026. During this period, both the regular route and diversion routes allow train lengths of up to 500 meters, and in some sections only up to 400 meters. Consequently, only around 50% of the usual transport capacity per train will be available.
These limitations have a direct influence on transport flows between the German seaports and Kornwestheim. Compliance with positioning times, rail acceptance deadlines and vessel loading deadlines cannot be consistently ensured. An overload of the terminal in Kornwestheim cannot be ruled out due to restricted interim storage capacity. We therefore recommend planning additional transit time buffers and taking time-critical transport chains into account at an early stage.
