Container-block-train concept for beer

The Task:

One of our beverage customers was looking for a sustainable logistics solution to transport their goods from their two sites in Germany to more than 250 locations overseas.

The initial situation was to work out a logistics concept to combine all their shipments from the two sites in Germany and to move them in the most efficient way to the export port and from there to the desired port of discharge, to clear them through customs, and arrange a door-to-door delivery in time.

The Solution:

We came up with a container block-train concept to bundle their shipments. At the loading port, we grouped the containers into the lots ordered by their receivers and shipped them to their destinations. In the USA, Mexico, China (incl. Hong Kong), and Vietnam, we are also arranging the customs clearance as part of the door-to-door delivery service and as per the schedule given by the final receiver.

The Result: 

This concept is running successfully. Our customer and their business partners are absolutely satisfied with the accuracy of the lead times from ex work to door-to-door shipments, the transparency provided by Cruise Control, and the flexibility in case of a sudden change in ordered shipments and lot sizes as well as in the cost situation.
