Turnaround: import to export containers

Case study about a smooth cooperation between FMS offices and customer to cut down costs.

THE TASK:
Set up a smoothly running cooperation for our customer to turn import containers into export containers. Monitoring the saved expenses on transport trajects and saved DEM/DET days.

THE SOLUTION:
Fr. Meyer's Sohn Nuremberg  share an excel sheet with both Fr. Meyer's Sohn Rotterdam and the customer each week. Fr. Meyer's Sohn Rotterdam can coordinate the export bookings on the basis of this excel sheet. Means the Rotterdam office can pre-book export shipments based on the import carriers to save time and expenses for our customer.

THE RESULT:

  • Saved expenses for our customer on DEM/DET days and singletrip transports.
  • Time saving due to the clarity of which containers and carriers are coming in every week. Means the export bookings can be coordinated further in advance.
  • Haulier can disconnect the chassis at the loading dock of the warehouse so they can take the time while loading.
  • Container number is known once Re-use is approved in order to complete the VHC certificated which is required for this commodity.

Taking care of it is our daily business.
