3 QUESTIONS TO Kristoff Lauwers | FMS Antwerp

1. What is you job at  FMS Antwerp?

I'm presently Department Manager in the Antwerp office. My main job is - just as all the forwarders in my team for which I am responsible - to assist our customers in the best possible way. Besides that, I try to help all the persons on the department with all kind of questions, work related, but also personally related on the work floor to make the team as strong as possible. Furthermore, I try to organize & divide the work stream in the best possible way.

2. How was your proffesional development at FMS?

I started in January 2003 at FMS as a trainee. I followed a course to become a freight forwarder in 2 years. So it was a combination of school/work. After that period, I got the opportunity to stay in the company, which I did not doubt for a split second. During the next years, I had the chance to learn from the best forwarders in Antwerp, had the chance to know the warehouse operations, visit paper mills & most of our customers over Europe. Eventually, I got my own files, and even had the chance to become the team leader, which I still do with all the passion required to satisfy our customers.

3. What makes FMS a great employer for you?

FMS Antwerp is a company with a great team atmosphere. Since the first day I worked here, it was obvious that the team is prepared to do all what is needed to bring the company to a higher level! We have a very nice office, which is making our life very comfortable! If we face problems, we can communicate them to the management, and they try to do all to solve this problems in the best way, as well as professionally as personally.
