Christmas Donations 2020

Every year our employees can suggest nonprofit organizations FMS should donate to for Christmas. 2020 FMS selected 5 organizations:

One year ago, we had a bone marrow donor drive at the FMS headquarters in Hamburg. Our colleague Oliver took part and joined the register. He says: "Joining the register is simple: Fill out a form and swab your mouth with a cotton swab. You don't need to do anything else, apart from waiting for the call."
One year later, he received that call from the DKMS (https://www.dkms.de/en) and was informed that he is a match. The next steps were doing some more blood tests and making sure that he was healthy and a viable candidate for donation. Every step was organized very well by the DKMS and all information needed was provided.

For weeks now, the German Red Cross has been working throughout Germany to combat the coronavirus and stem its further spread. The DRK's full-time staff and volunteers are involved in a variety of ways to support the authorities in the fight against the virus: For example, mobile doctor's offices and fever-measuring stations are being deployed and supervised by the DRK throughout Germany to strengthen the healthcare system and relieve the burden on clinics. But the care and support of the elderly and needy during the crisis are also the focus of relief efforts by the German Red Cross.

This organization is a German fundraiser for children in need, organized by the Hamburg radio station. Our colleague Anna Kramp suggested this organization, which helps children in need in Hamburg and its surroundings. We visited the radio station to get to know more about the projects and talked with other donators.
