Market Update | Vessel Space & Equipment Availability

2020 - a year with special circumstances for all of us – is coming to an end with expected rough sea in regards to shipping and transportation.

An increase of export and import volume connected to an extreme imbalance of container availability and shortage of available vessel space, is challenging the market.

Especially in the European ports there is a huge shortage of empty equipment. This is caused by several factors like Covid-19 pandemic, booming exports out of Asia, blank sailing programs and evacuation of empty equipment by the carriers.

We kindly ask you to

  • Place your bookings in advance and calculate additional time buffers especially for   L/C shipments.
  • Inform us as soon as possible if your shipment cannot be loaded as planned so that we do not unnecessarily block space and avoid extra costs.

The space shortage and respective measures taken by the shipping lines result in increased transportation costs. Unfortunately we have to charge you accordingly.

Please be assured that we will do our utmost best to get your cargo onboard. We are in close contact to our partners and will keep you informed about any development.

If you have any further questions on this topic, do not hesitate to ask your dedicated Fr. Meyer’s Sohn contact person.
