We are 3 women and 3 men from 20 to 47 years old, so we are a very diverse team where we can learn from each other. In addition to the gender-balanced team, the office of Fr. Are there any staff events at the branch?

Certainly! In our office, birthday celebrations involve the birthday person treating their colleagues to "pintxos", a traditional Basque tapa. These gatherings provide a great opportunity for team members to bond, chat, and enjoy some delicious food. They help to create a warm and friendly atmosphere, which can contribute to higher levels of job satisfaction and productivity.

What kind of jobs are there and what are typical tasks?

Our main activities are commercial, carrier’s rate negotiations and customer service export as well as import. Moreover, we assist colleagues from different branches with their business activities in the northern region of Spain. This involves providing local knowledge, resources, and support to ensure that their operations run smoothly and effectively. By doing so, we help to strengthen the relationships between our colleagues and their customers, ultimately contributing to the growth and success of the company.

3 Questions to Mikel Madarieta | FMS Bilbao

1. What is your job at FMS Bilbao?

My primary responsibility is the customer service operative, basically, helping clients and being in full communication with them while I proceed with the entire export or import process. For the work to be effective, I always provide our clients with updated information about the status of their shipments so that they are always informed, and this is one of the reasons why they positively value the service we provide at FMS Bilbao.

2. How was your professional development at FMS?

I began my journey with Fr. Meyer's Sohn in February 2025 as an internship student. I started learning from the wonderful colleagues in my office who have always been patient in teaching me and over the months I have been working better little by little until today. I feel that I have learned a lot of things but that I still have many more to learn. 

3. Why do you like working at FMS?

From the first day I felt very welcomed by the kindness of my colleagues, something that makes the working hours very enjoyable and this is one of the things I value most when working.

Another thing I value is that there is great team spirit. If someone has a problem with their work, the rest of the colleagues always try to help by contributing everything they know so that together we can get the job done. Working at Fr. Meyer's Sohn's Bilbao office you realize that there is great unity and that teamwork is essential for everything to work perfectly.
