How many employees work at FMS Hamburg?

There are 251 colleagues at our branch in Hamburg. Several of them have been with FMS for over 42 years. At present, the average age is 38; therefore there are employees of all ages making our teams so diverse.

Are there any staff events at the Hamburg branch?

Yes! Who works together successfully can also celebrate together. We have an annual Chill & Grill event for all departments, a very successful company soccer team and a traditional New Year's Reception, which in 2017 we will celebrate in the great Hotel Hafen Hamburg.

What kind of jobs are there at FMS Hamburg and what are typical tasks?

At our Hamburg branch there are the most varied jobs. For example the Operator Sales & Customer Service Sea Freight, who organize global transports and have great expertise and knowledge of the industry, IT Developers who develop our own logistic software or Financial Controllers who keep an eye on our global figures.

Why is the FMS Hamburg office a great place to work?

You can see the Hamburg port from our roof terrace! We are close to the large container vessels, loading sheds and near to the customs office. And you can still reach Hamburg central station within three minutes.

5 Questions to Dominic Lucius | CFO | Fr. Meyer's Sohn

In May 2016, Dominik Lucius joined the FMS family - time to review the past eleven months & to talk about plans for the future.
1. What is your job at FMS?

I am Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and responsible for Corporate Administration such as Accounting, Controlling, Human Ressources, Compliance, Internal Audit, and Quality Management. My goal is to implement the most efficient administration processes and structures in our company in comparison to our competitors. At the same time, we want to increase business transparency in FMS so we can take right decisions on the basis of correct Information.

2. How was your professional development at FMS/before FMS?

After getting my MBA I joined ThyssenKrupp Mergers & Acquisitions Team in 2003. In 2006, I held my first CFO position at Blohm&Voss Mechanical Engineering. In 2009, I became Blohm&Voss Group CFO for Ship Building, Ship Repair and Mechanical Engineering. In 2012, we organised a Management-Buy-Out and I became a Managing Partner until I left the business for FMS in 2016.

3. What was your first impression of the atmosphere at FMS?

FMS is a great company. And we have all it takes to be successful. Our shareholders have a long-term interest and fully support us in implementing our Strategy 2020. Our financial situation is solid and we are not dependent on financial support by third parties. Our management knows the business well. And our colleagues are committed, hard-working and fun-loving.

4. What kind of employees match FMS?

We look for people who have a passion for freight forwarding and want to drive the business to success. They like to cope with customers and really live customer service. They are open to innovations and enjoy improvements. Hard work, passion, commitment, and fun is their understanding of our life at FMS.

5. What makes FMS a great employer for you?

We really care about our people. On the one hand, we want them to perform and to be better than the competition. On the other hand, we appreciate their engagement and value their success. We worship loyalty and want our people to be well educated. We want to listen to them and their ideas. Everybody shall be part of our success. And we want our people to earn more than the competition!
